Workshops for Adults

Crazy Quilts (Beginner & Above)
July 27 & 29 2 Days: 1 – 4 PM
Fee: $45

Crazy quilting, also known as patchwork, began as people recycled material from old clothes and fabrics into something useful. Women often included pieces of their wedding dresses or baby’s clothes to create a record of family history. The combinations of color and shape make each quilt unique. For this course, we will use new cotton material, all provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own materials--new, recyled, or sentimental. Students will complete a pillow or the beginning of a quilt to finish at home. All sewing skill levels are welcome! Bring your sewing machine if you have one. Minimum: 5 students. Limit: 8 students .
Instructor: Haley McDonald

Students with some experience working with pastels will work outside on location on small 4 x 6 inch panels (postcard size) textured with a slight grit to hold the color in subtle layers. We will use the beauty of the local seascape/landscape as our subject matter. Students are encouraged to bring their own pastels to class (extras will be available). Suggested materials: a combination of hard pastels (i.e. Nu-Pastels), pastel pencils, psoft sticks, and a portable chair. Minimum: 3 students. Limit: 6 students .
